TIMES HAVE CHANGED OVER THE YEARS OF HAIRDRESSING. I TRAINED IN THE 1980’S AND EVEN THOUGH WE WERE PERMING AND COLOURING HAIR TO THE EXTREME WE CERTAINLY DIDN’T HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE AND PRODUCT RANGES THAT WE HAVE TO USE TODAY.
Unfortunately there is no trichologist on the National Health Service and therefore no treatment for hair loss on the NHS at present. The patient may be lucky to have bloods tests carried out to eliminate the possibility of deficiencies, however this is only a small minority of the cases as they are not always needed.
Hair loss in women, thinning hair, female pattern hair loss and falling hair are all complaints that fit into this category and the most frequently occurring condition I see as a trichologist.
