I do not believe that the condition I understand they have can be cured at all! It is an inherited pre disposition to a miniaturisation of the hair follicle – no amount of hair transplant can reverse this. It would add hairs that are of a thicker diameter to boost the density, however the pre existing hairs continue to thin and there is only a certain number of hairs that each donor site can spare.
At present the extra hairs needed to boost the upper thinning region (which for interest effects women for the same reason) can only come from the rear scalp of the same person- ie your brother could not donate!
Sussex Trichology Consultant Shuna Hammocks questions the ethics of a vast majority of Hair Transplant Surgeons. It is not often that you hear of any one of these Surgeons prepared to turn away custom, even when the patients expectation of improvement wasn’t ever going to be met.
Shuna Hammocks at Sussex Trichology can refer patients to a reputable and experienced surgeon who has both a high moral and excellent surgical reputation.
There is no ‘baldness cure’ or more specifically male pattern baldness, but a good hair transplant can make a person feel more confident and in control of thinning hair loss.
It is also worth mentioning here that both men and women suffer from thinning hair loss and at Sussex Trichology, Shuna Hammocks our Consultant Trichologist very rarely suggests that a patient should have a hair transplant. There are many other ways of treating hair loss or thinning in both males and females, and every patient at Sussex Trichology is given helpful advice and support. Never has Shuna Hammocks said that the only option is to have a Transplant!
